Haunting: - according to the Parapsychological Association, "the more or less regular occurrence of paranormal phenomena associated with a particular locality (especially a building) and usually attributed to the activities of a discarnate entity; the phenomena may include apparitions, poltergeist disturbances, cold drafts, sounds of footsteps and voices, and various odours." The paranormal occurences surrounding a haunting in most cases will be referred to as simply a ghost!
So what is a ghost?? The Term "Ghost" is usually associated with paranormal phenonema and refers to anomalous apparitions of the dead, disembodied voices, and even unexpected noises in the night! The truth is, however, that no one really know's for certain? As a result of this, There are many theories to explain the thousands of documented experiences that people around the world have had since the beginning of recorded history. For the purposes of Tyler R.I.P we like to explain our "Ghost" by dividing the many types of reported hauntings into 4 categories! Since The Word "ghost" is such a broad term now a days, let us start by explaining a few of the terms you will see used frequently on this page
Apparition: - is the act or instance of appearing; For the use of Tyler R.I.P. apparition describes any paranormal event that involves the appearance of a figure or shape that is supernatural or anomalous in its nature. Apparitions may or may not interact with the living world. The most commonly reported apparitions (Also known as Crisis Apparitions or Grief Projections) are of recently deceased relatives and loved ones!
Anomalous/Anomalies: - is an observed event which deviates from what is expected (an anomaly) according to existing rules or scientific theory!
INTELLIGENT HAUNTINGS
The apparition/haunting will usually manifest itself in physical and intelligent ways, like slamming, opening and unlocking doors; voices ; It will act in ways that would give the impression of intelligence! Almost as if the presence was trying to get your attention or make itself known! It is believed to be true, that if an apparition does manifest it will likely appear as it did when it died, even, maintaining its prior life personality! If it was playful in its prior life then it will seem playful as an appirition etc.. It is important to not confuse Intelligent Apparitions/Hauntings with poltergiest activity? The two can be confused easily and most hauntings are considered to be poltergiest or anomalous until evidence of an intelligent apparition(Spirit) can be observed and documented! As for intelligent apparitions we belive they can be placed into two categories:
Benevolent Appiritions/Anomalies: Apparitions or anomalies that dont appear to be negative or violent in nature!
Malevolent Apparitions/Anomalies: Apparitions or anomalies that appear to be negative and/or cause or mean ill will out of spite,hatred or jealousy !
Residual Huantings
First and foremost it must be stated that this category is only used to categorize anomalous paranormal events that seem to repeat themselves in a similar way over and over again? For example there are many reports of apparitions appearing as Civil War Era soldiers that constantly and repeatedly do the same thing over and over again as if someone was pressing rewind only to watch it happen again a few days,weeks, or months later? Another example would be reports of an Old West Era Lady walking down a set of stairs only to dissappear and then repeat the same event a few days later? These apparitions or anomalies do not seem to have any recognition or ability to interact with our living world as we know it? Although there are many theories used to explain this form of anomalous activity Tyler R.I.P considers this type of activity just anomalous! This category exist for research purposes only so that we can categorize those activities wich seem to repeat themselves as if they were a broken record! Although Tyler R.I.P does not completely agree with the theory of residual haunting shown below it is the most commonly accepted version:

Paranormal researchers theorize that residual hauntings are the result of discharged personal energy of a person or group of people being imprinted on the surrounding environment, most commonly at or just after death." Most reports of celebrity and recognizable historical appiritions can be placed into this category!
Anomalous/Poltergiest
An Anomalous Haunting is exactly what it says. It is a Haunting by all defintions, but despite all efforts no known theory or explanation can be assisgned to the event!
Crisis Appiritions/Projections
Crisis Apparitions also known as messengers are the most commonly form of reported hauntings! A Crisis Apparition is usually an appearance of a deceased loved one anywhere from months to years after there death. In most cases the apparition appears to be trying to communicate something and seems to comfort the loved one it visits! Although this form of anomalous apparition is the most commonly reported it is the hardest to document and /or prove, because the apparition usually appears once and is never seen again!
