The Rogers
Hotel: Case # 032208
The Rogers
Hotel is located in historic Waxahachie, Texas. The hotel is named after
the town's founder, Emory W. Rogers, who originally built his home near
the site of the hotel in 1847. In 1855, Mr. Rogers built a two-story
hotel on the current hotel's site, but the original was destroyed in
a fire in 1881. The Waxahachie Real Estate & Building Assn later
constructed a second hotel in the same site. Another fire caught and
destroyed the second hotel in 1911. In 1912, the present building was
designed by C.D. Hill and was opened in early 1913.
There have been several reports of paranormal activity through out the
time the hotel has been reopened. There are several stories as to who
these spirits might be, which was given to the members of Tyler R.I.P.
as part of a tour of the hotel.
We began our investigation around 1 am on March 22, 2008. The weather
was clear and temperatures were in the mid 40s. Members were in the
reportedly highly active room 409 as well as room 403. Audio and video
work was done in both rooms. While investigating in the rooms, we noticed
that the walls are very thin and it is very easy to hear others in the
hotel. During an EVP session, there was a response of knocking. Unfortunately,
this experience had to be discarded because it could not be determined
if it was paranormal or another guest in the hotel. This was not captured
on the audio from the room.
Audio work was also done in the basement area of the hotel. However,
team members noticed that the basement was covered in several large
power boxes, electrical wiring for the hotel and water pipes on the
ceiling. This could contribute to the stories of how people get the
feeling that they are being watched or the unexplainable noises that
is heard while working in the basement area.
After a review of collected data, no evidence was recorded at this time.
Further investigating would be required to determine if there is paranormal
